Sustainable Stylized Shoot: Eco-Friendly, Garden Wedding Inspiration – Tampa, FL

In a setting as beautiful as an outdoor venue in Florida, you don’t have to look far for inspiration. Natural greens from area foliage and silvery-blues found in local airplants were the perfect colors for this stylized shoot, which also incorporated a pop of bright Florida orange. __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1457 Christi Winsor of Winsor Event Studio set out to create a wedding concept that incorporated sustainable and environmentally-friendly elements. “You can have an eco-conscious wedding and have it still be beautiful!”Everything was put to the test of ‘how can this be greener?’, which inspired details like the reclaimed wood tables, potted plants, recycled glass, compostible dinnerware, eco-fabric dresses made from silk and linen, and even a natural cork all-in-one invitation (with email RSVP requested to save even more paper)! __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1036 The bride wore a natural silk gown with a side-swept chignon adorned with a natural airplant. The bridesmaid dress from MSSP was a stunning shade of eucalyptus blue and made of 100% linen! __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1352__Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1048 More airplants from a nearby walking trail, along with eucalyptus and succulents comprised the cloudy blue and green hued bouquets, which paired beautifully with the twine-wrapped herb boutonnieres. __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1009  __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1019 __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1022 Gentlemen looked dapper in their wool pants and cotton shirts and bow ties (all eco-friendly fabric selections). __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1487 The suspended silk draping accented with a swag of burlap beautifully framed the waterfront view for the ceremony. The aisle was lined with potted herbs and flowers, and repurposed in the vast wood planter box on the reception table to create the centerpieces. Live potted plants are a great alternative to cut flowers for an eco-conscious bride, because they live on long after the wedding day when sent home with guests or used in the couple’s home or garden!   __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1184 A display of unpolished stones atop a sheet of lush moss directed guests to their tables. The unassuming metal table was so lovely it needed no linen, and was simply dressed with a few macramé vases and recycled glass jugs filled with floral cut right from the garden venue.__Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1143__Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1144 __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1350 __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1375 __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1376 __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1340 Local Florida oranges studded with wood menu tags popped next to the charming blue patterned cotton napkins and an Italian blown-glass pitcher made for a unique table number. __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1000 The farm style dining table was created using reclaimed wood with a wash of mint paint from a previous life; a perfect compliment to the sage retro metal sweetheart chairs. Cork place mats grounded the palm-leaf plates and recycled glass tumblers. __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1453 __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1467  __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1485__Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1002   __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1064  __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1086 For dinner, guests would enjoy an organic pizza truck with personal pies constructed from natural dough, sauce, and home-grown herbs, and then wood-fired on site! All topped off with assorted cupcakes in unique flavors like Florida orange marmalade, blueberry lavender cheesecake, and lemongrass basil! __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1174__Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1227__Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1151 __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1202 In true Florida fashion, a beverage dispenser offered mimosas made with fresh Florida orange juice and organic sparkling wine, served in recycled glass tumblers with compostable straws. __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1155    __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1222  __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1306  __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1384 __Life_Long_Studios_LifeLongStudios1421 Everything was either local, sustainable, or recycled/repurposed! Introducing The 2016 Wedding World Changer Couple: Astrid and Gary, Tampa, FL

It’s with great pleasure and so much emotion we are excited to announce the first ever Wedding World Changer Couple, Astrid and Gary! Black Sheep Bride will be celebrating our second birthday on 7/5/16! Since our launch we’ve desired to put on a free wedding for a deserving couple that have been actively involved in giving back to their community, so this past January we got the ball rolling and launched the Wedding World Changer site! Couples nominated themselves and shared their stories, vendors from all over the world have reached out, interested in participating in their areas! Due to proximity, Tampa, FL is our first market and we will be celebrating Astrid and Gary’s wedding day on Tuesday, 7/5/16, thanks to the love, support, hard work, and time and financial investments of amazing local vendors passionate about giving back! Here are some adorable photos from their engagement session with Jeanine Leigh Photography and Green Pearl Photography. Astrid&Gary-11 Photo by Jeanine Leigh Photography Here is their story: Gary is a firefighter in Palm Harbor with a tender heart for serving others and his community, and Astrid is currently working towards her degree in Pediatric Occupational Therapy, while also volunteering her time on Sundays with her local children’s ministry, at their church. They were planning for a late fall wedding, but Astrid’s mother’s recent battle with cancer had them seeking ways to plan their wedding sooner. Out of the applications available the Tampa Vendor Team voted and their story touched our hearts most. So excited to share this special day with a couple that we have all grown to love so closely!   A HUGE THANK YOU to all of the participating vendors, sponsors, and donors that helped make their WEDDING POSSIBLE: Planning: Oh Hello Events | Ceremony Design: Bourbon and Blush Events | Reception Design: Amber Veatch Designs | Floral Design : Andrea Layne Floral Design | Photography: Jeanine Leigh Photography and Green Pearl Photography | Venue: CL Space Ybor | Hair + Makeup: Michele Renee |  Paper Goods: Citrus-Press Co. | Catering: Tastes of Tampa Bay | Cocktail Hour Catering: Chalk Board Special | Linens: Kate Ryan Linens | Cake : Trudy Melissa Cakes | DJ: Graingertainment | Bartending : Mix It Up FL | Ceremony Altar/Escort Card Display/Rentals: Wish Vintage Rental | Pipe and Drape: Coast To Coast Event Rentals | Smaller Wooden Signage: Aerie Lane | Rectangular Farm Tables, Chargers: Set Event Rentals | Media Partners: Creative Loafing and Marry Me Tampa Bay | Succulents: The Succulent Source | Lavender: Tin Can Events | Chairs, Square Tables, Dinnerware, Flatware, Glasses: A Chair Affair | Videography: The Portos | Bridesmaids Dresses: Two Birds Bridesmaid | Wedding Dress: The Bride Tampa | Tuxes: All Brides 2 Be Tampa | Hotel Accommodations: Hilton Garden Inn Ybor |   Photos below courtesy of Jeanine Leigh Photography Astrid&Gary-17    Astrid&Gary-18    Astrid&Gary-32 Astrid&Gary-33   Astrid&Gary-61 Astrid&Gary-68 Photos below courtesy of Green Pearl Photography GPP_3818 GPP_3863 GPP_3922 GPP_3940  GPP_4160 Can’t wait till July 5th to see their wedding day come to life! 2016 Wedding World Changer Day

Last year for our first birthday we encouraged newlyweds, engaged couples and wedding vendors across the globe to give back on one dedicated day, we graciously deemed this self-proclaimed holiday as Wedding World Changer Day! It was such a blast, there were people participating all across the U.S. and all the way below the equator in South Africa. Sustainably Styled- Market Inspired Wedding Shoot

One of my all time favorite places to be is outside the borders of my own country. Traveling to exotic, challenging, and unfamiliar places to empower and serve others internationally always manages to bring me the most peace, fulfillment and purpose. In my travels I have found most of my inspiration in the markets of far off countries. I am always amazed by the colors, the hustle and bustle, the community, and the resourcefulness of the vendors as they work hard to support their families, so I wanted to incorporate as many market-themed designs and products as I could into this inspiration shoot we planned at Rialto Theatre, in Tampa, FL. Throughout this feature you will find small blurbs about how the products incorporated empower others and why we decided on certain design elements that are less than traditional, in an effort to inspire the imperfectly-perfect theme of resourceful beauty… Without further adieu take a tour of our Market Inspired Sustainable Stylized Shoot, photographed by Jordan Weiland Photography! 2015-10-14_0001 The shoes were provided by Deux Main Designs, made in Haiti, out of upcycled tires and leather. The dress beautifully designed of eco-cotton by one of our amazing BSB Vendors, Kendal Leonard Eco Designs. The first set of jewelry incorporated was made out of fabric beads from Haiti, as well, provided by 107 Market Street. 2015-10-14_0002 The second set of jewelry was incorporated by Hands Producing Hope, made of paper beads from Rwanda. MiaDonna provided the gorgeous eco/sustainable wedding ring set for our amazing couple. 2015-10-14_0003 2015-10-14_0004 Our gorgeous couple happened to be at a local presentation Black Sheep Bride spoke at several months back and I knew I wanted to use them for this shoot. Not only are they adorable, they are both teachers and have a heart for empowering their teacher community through conversation and networking events they host called, EcuCool Talks! 2015-10-14_0005 The flowers, centerpieces and floral crown were made by Ragga Wedding, out of up cycled fabric made by artisans in Haiti, as well. 2015-10-14_0006 2015-10-14_0007 2015-10-14_0008 2015-10-14_0009 Rialto Theatre was the perfect space for the shoot, because of its raw brick and classic white walled blank canvas to work with. Nothing makes me happier than an old open industrial space ready to be re-invented for good. This venue is also ran by two of the most amazing people ever, whom also happen to be teachers and dance instructors and regularly use their space to host charity events. 2015-10-14_0010 2015-10-14_0011 2015-10-14_0012 2015-10-14_0013 2015-10-14_0014 2015-10-14_0015 2015-10-14_0016 One of my favorite parts of the shoot was the table design, by Georgette of Pea to Tree Events. We were going for a eclectic, imperfectly-perfect and resourceful tropical vibe. Our goal was to bring upcycled and alternative design elements into the forefront of the space and show others that there are amazing non-traditional ways to bring fruits and plant life into the table setting scene, that are sustainable and better for the environment as a whole. We used melted candle sticks, intentionally, because the whole goal of this space was to find raw, organic and transparent beauty in what was available to us. Mangos, Bananas, fair trade chocolate cover coffee beans as favors and a mix of wood and metal textures made it all come together! Incredibly grateful for Set Rentals and Designs for contributing the table settings, wood chargers, plates, silverware and Wish Vintage Rental for the Table, Chairs, accent design pieces! 2015-10-14_0017 Citrus Press Co. made the cutest leaf style name cards, along side their paper suite, and we used Paper Bead Bracelets, by Hands Producing Hope, as a napkin ring alternative. 2015-10-14_0018 2015-10-14_0019 2015-10-14_0020 2015-10-14_0021 2015-10-14_0022 2015-10-14_0023 2015-10-14_0024 2015-10-14_0025 2015-10-14_0026 2015-10-14_0027 2015-10-14_0028 The gorgeous cake was inspired by the amazing diversity of colors produced from a mango ripening, by Hands On Sweets! 2015-10-14_0029 2015-10-14_0030 2015-10-14_0031 2015-10-14_0032 Our ceremony space was put together with the artisan made bowls provided by Buy the Change. Our goal was to really emulate the eclectic colors most markets have to offer and incorporate less than traditional foliage options, made from sustainable banana leafs. 2015-10-14_0043 2015-10-14_0033 2015-10-14_0034 2015-10-14_0035 2015-10-14_0036 2015-10-14_0037 2015-10-14_0038 2015-10-14_0039 2015-10-14_0040 2015-10-14_0041 2015-10-14_0042 Participating Vendors: Photography: Jordan Weiland Photography | Wedding Design/Coordination: Pea to Tree Events | Venue: Rialto Theatre | Dress: Kendal Leonard Designs | Paper Goods: Citrus Press Co. | Table Setting Rentals: Set Rentals and Designs | Rentals (Tables, Chairs, Boxes, Accents, etc) : Wish Vintage Rental | Hair and Make-up: Angelica Mateo | Florals : Ragga Wedding | Rings: MiaDonna | Shoes: Deux Main Designs | Cake : Hands on Sweets | Jewelry Set 1: 107 Market Street | Jewelry Set 2: Hands Producing Hope | Baskets: Buy the Change
