Tampa Charity Wedding Recipients Pay It Forward One Year Later- Wedding World Changer

Today is the one year anniversary of our first Wedding World Changer FREE WEDDING! The Wedding World Changer premise was simple, couples were nominated and shared how they are actively involved in their community. Gary is a firefighter in Palm Harbor (Tampa, FL) with a tender heart for serving others and his community, and Astrid was working towards her degree in Pediatric Occupational Therapy at the time, while also volunteering on Sundays with her local children’s ministry. They were planning for a wedding in a few years, however, Astrid’s mother’s recent battle with cancer had them seeking ways to plan their wedding sooner. Out of all the applications available the Tampa Vendor Team voted and their story touched our hearts most. Click HERE to see the full gallery from their wedding day. Peek-52 There was one major stipulation to winning the Wedding World Changer wedding. The winning couple would pledge to donate 100 service hours back into the community, within the first year of marriage. Astrid and Gary have spent the last twelve months serving others to make good on our 100 volunteer hours promise and we are thrilled to update you on their newlywed giving adventure! IMG_8517 I love what Astrid shared with BSB about the journey through giving in their first year: “We wanted to take some time to THANK YOU for the amazing experience that you have provided to us! It has been a year since Gary & I were gifted with our dream wedding, but we believe that paying the goodness forward has been an even bigger blessing for our marriage. We began our community service journey a little later than we wanted to due to our “busy” schedules. We thought the best thing to do would be to sit down and make a “plan” on what we believed would work best to complete our hours. Well, we were in for a reality check because life had plans of its own… many stressors were presented throughout the months that made it difficult for Gary & I to spend time together. It took us a couple of months to realize that life was not going to stop so that we could fulfill our promise to you. Come January, we decided we needed to just dive in and see where the journey would lead us. The moment we started volunteering changed our hearts forever. It was during this time that we both were able to forget about all of the worries in the world and focus on helping others. We no longer had excuses as to why we were too “busy”, but instead looked for moments to make a difference in someone else’s life. It brought us closer, as a couple, and in a way forced us to make time for each other. It then turned into something we were both passionate about and enjoyed doing together. Overall, the experience has helped build the foundation of our marriage and taught us how rewarding and humbling it feels to give back to those in need. We feel that giving back is now something that is instilled in our hearts and we will continue to follow this journey wherever God may lead us.” IMG_8513 IMG_8515 Astrid and Gary have touched the lives of so many in our community, thanks to this awesome 100-hour challenge! They have volunteered with Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (in honor of her Mom), collected Christmas gifts for families in need with the Palm Harbor Fire Rescue, dedicated hours of hard, dirty, work at the West Pasco Habitat for Humanity Kinship Urban Farm, fed hundreds of downtown neighbors with Thorn Homeless Ministries, served at their local Goodwill, walked for ALS research, and volunteered with several other smaller fundraising events for local charities. cicis team walmart Check out the The Portos highlight video from their wedding below. Sustainably Stylized Wedding Inspiration: Louisville Water Tower, KY

During the spring and summer months in Louisville, the Ohio River serves as a riverfront communal playground. Families can be found relaxing on boats, taking long strolls along the sandy banks, and collecting sea glass and driftwood, as momentos. In honor of Louisville Water Tower Park, the historic landmark that ties past and present history all together, Design in Mind Events pulled together a team of 19 talented vendors to style a tranquil yet romantic wedding theme around water. The color scheme of blues (cornflower blue, light blue and serenity blue) brought to view the natural beauty of the celebration and the habitat surrounding the venue. With these items in mind, it made sense to design tall sails, as well as, incorporate sea glass and driftwood to showcase the water theme. There were also some subtle visual ties such as the bride’s hairstyle to signify waves of water, a pageant bouquet to represent the doric column of the tower and the off-centered cake to emulate the spiral staircase.

Eco-friendly elements also played an important role in this styled shoot. To offset the use of flowers, Design in Mind Events incorporated plants and paper water lilies made by Papillon Originals. The hemp silk bridal gown was designed by Elizabeth Crum of Evenweave Bridal, wedding bands by Naturaleza Organic Jewelry, vintage dishes by The Southern Soiree, furniture by Once Borrowed Vintage, cake made with local ingredients by Flour de lis Bakery and last but not least, Louisville Pure Tap — promoting clean tap water versus the purchase of bottled water for any event large or small. Louisville Water Tower Park is a true gem in Kentucky’s history and an exceptional event venue to celebrate your own BIG moments in life, while also supporting local historical landmarks and clean water initiatives in the Louisville community!

Astronomy Themed Sustainable Wedding Inspiration: Fort Wayne, Indiana

‘Love with reckless abandon,’ that’s our motto! Ohhhhh and if there happens to be an open-air abandoned building nearby to organize a gorgeous, sustainable, inspiration shoot in, we won’t sttttt….. we won’t encourage you to trespass! Ha! We’re just starry-eyed over today’s astronomy inspired sustainable wedding shoot via our BSB vendor, Morgan of  Indigo Lace Collective! We love all she had to share about their ethereal vision and how it turned out so organically stunning! __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective103 ‘Living in Northern Indiana, we don’t have beach weddings, forests or mountains to explore with our couples like the rest of the world. But because we’re away from the big city lights and the busy roads, we have the stars. If you turn away from the night lights and look at the dark sky, the billions of glimmering stars that appear are unreal. The abandoned warehouse was a perfect location to showcase our love of the universe and our astronomy-inspired intimate wedding set up.’ __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective22 ‘Northern Indiana is scarce for amazing wedding venues, so our couples are constantly on the search for something unique and out of this world to get married in. The warehouse is abandoned and allows the breeze to enter and the light to fill up the once dark building. You’re away from the city and the people. Nature has slowly grown into the building and has taken back what was once hers. You can feel the raindrops. The wind. When it gets dark, you can look directly up into the sky full of Midwest stars. It’s quiet, natural, and feels separated from the world – almost like you’re on a different planet.’ __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective119__Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective18 __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective21  __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective14 __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective25 __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective6    __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective26 __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective29  __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective42__Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective17__Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective45__Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective140__Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective124 __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective1 ‘We wanted to create a magical scene for an intimate wedding in this warehouse. The Midwest is very traditional with weddings, and a lot of our couples get pushback for being artistic, unique, or wanting a different theme than the typical rustic Midwest wedding. We wanted to create a different venue, theme, and vibes for our couples to see. There’s no right or wrong way to do a wedding, but we wanted to give couples the inspiration to be true to themselves and really explore some magical and unique options when it came to wedding planning.’ __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective65 __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective108  __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective114 __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective118   __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective151 __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective104  __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective84   __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective91__Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective94 ‘We knew we couldn’t properly execute our vision of an organic, ethereal wedding without making sure that the vendors were partners with nature. Our florals were provided by The Bouqs Company, who grow their flowers through responsible farming that’s sustainable and eco-friendly. In order to eliminate waste, they only cut what they sell- unlike others. They provide healthcare, child watch, and adult education to their partners and employees.’ __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective86__Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective79The Red Stiletto, who provided the amazing hair and makeup, use Surface hair and styling products. Surface products are sulfate and paragon free, 100% vegan, gluten free, and chemical and cardigan free. The bottles and containers are made of recycled materials and Surface chooses to donate 10% of proceeds to World Vision.’ __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective80__Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective63  __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective62 __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective61Maeve Vintage, the stylists behind the shoot, started their business by giving new life to old, forgotten furniture. They started collecting pieces to share with couples to help embellish their special day and bring character and life to their photos or events. They’re always on the search for something unique- whether its found in the back corner of an antique shop or in an unwanted pile waiting for the the donation truck. They clean it, paint it, and give it a completely new life to share with other lovers of unique details here in Indiana.’ __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective67__Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective133 __Indigo_Lace_Collective_indigolacecollective28 ‘Ethereal Hibiscus-Infused Champagne Directions: You will need Wild Hibiscus Flowers in Syrup, 3-4 Sprigs of Rosemary, Champagne of your choosing.
