Thanks to our BSB Vendor, Misty Miotto Photography, for sharing is this community-driven wedding celebration with us! Misty is an amazing testimony to community service and has helped organize the Central Florida Heart Gallery and countless other non-profit events for years. She is also one of the first cheerleaders and supporters of BSB and we are forever grateful for the encouragement she has poured out onto our mission from the very start of our journey.
He was a College professor with a Ph.D. from Harvard University who’s ideas could make the world a better place, she was a free-spirited bird who had a heart that could wrap around the world three times over. They met through their love of music and are both a part of an amazing band called Passerine. Together they had a love that could change the world. David teaches at the New College of Florida in Sarasota (where they were married) and Carmela is a birth worker at the Rosemary Birthing Home in Sarasota and she helps to bring babies into this world in the most beautiful natural way. Oh and that Big White ball of fur well that’s Gryphon and if you couldn’t tell already he’s part of the family. The bride found her dress at a local consignment shop and reinvented it to be her own. Their rings were designed by a Sarasota based artisan jeweler also. They had the groom’s son make the cake, he worked for years with a local cake baker. The couple opted for a potluck reception and involved their community of family and friends every step of the process. When these two lovebirds have time off they can be found traveling the world on different adventures and giving back!

Who said good things can’t happen on Friday, The Thirteenth?
Today’s featured wedding couple went out of their way to show kindness and intentional love with every aspect of their wedding day planning! The couple opted for a charity registry, instead of ‘more stuff’, and choose to support a local Pekingese Rescue where they adopted their dogs from. They also had a dollar dance and the money collected was donated to a rabbit rescue. They hired a farm to table caterer with a 90% vegetarian dinner and skipped unnecessary decorations. The only vendor the couple hired outside of the venue’s vendor guide was our very own BSB Vendor, Sandrachile, specifically because she is an ethical and charitable business owner. Let this story of collective generosity take root in our hearts and breathe life into actionable kindness today!
At the end of the night, once all the fun was had, Sandra (the photographer) went out of her way to deliver all of the wedding leftovers to the local homeless neighbors surrounding the area. This is the example we want to set, am I right?

Today’s styled wedding shoot was inspired by the vibrant and artistic East Nashville community that is home to Riverwood Mansion and incorporates the couple’s love for animals. With a casual, intimate ceremony under the shade of a 200 year old magnolia tree, and Southern front porch cocktails, the invitation was open of guests to bring their furry best friends. Eclectic decor from the hands of local artisans set the tone for a creative celebration of love. The doggie details were thoughtful and cohesive with the overall vision while fulfilling our heartfelt mission to find our couple’s foster pup, Etta, a local rescue dog, her forever home. The best part of this shoot is all the dogs were a part of a local rescue group and have since been adopted.
The best part of this shoot is all the dogs – especially the star of the day, Etta, who was (at the time) a part of a local rescue group – she has since been adopted.
